Located 280 feet underground, this ancient city of Rinkuyu was once home to 20,000 people and was abandoned for many decades.
A man whose chickens were often missing noticed that when he was renovating his home, there was an opening in the basement.
Thinking that his chickens had gone into the open space and disappeared, the landlord found the entrance to the ancient city by knocking on the walls. The city is like a network of tunnels, and access holes to the city have also been found in other people’s homes.
