A ramen boy noodle bar in Taipei’s Zhongshan District, Taiwan’s capital, is selling limited quantities of noodles with giant isopod deep-sea creature (Bathynomus giganteus) and chicken broth as a new menu item.


The noodle soup costs US$48 (nearly 1.5 million Myanmar kyats), and the dish includes a giant isopod with a bowl of noodles. According to the owner of the shop, the meat of the deep-sea creature tastes like lobster and crab, and the yellow yolk from the animal is fresh and sweet.
The owner of Ramen Boy said he saw this deep sea creature in an aquarium while visiting Japan and got the idea to make such a unique dish.
Bathynomus giganteus is a giant isopod, typically found at depths of 1,640 feet (500 meters) below the surface of the ocean, and is usually about 12 inches long from head to tail.
